IN SUPPORT OF FEEDING DREAMS CAMBODIA PAST FUNDRAISING EVENTS.

HISTORIC PUBS.  A cultural day out in London. A couple of years ago we planned a trip to London for an epic day out when we visited 20 of London’s most historical and iconic pubs. Pete gave an overview of why each particular pub was of special interest (apart from the fact that they were selling beer), as wearing Feeding Dreams T shirts we created quite a lot of interest. Participants were asked to get “sponsorship” for each pub visited, and we collected money on the day in collection tins. It promised to be epic, and it certainly was.

QUIZZES and AUCTIONS

Andy Sheehan does a great job with the yearly quiz and auction, normally held in a large hall, the quiz format is a prelude to a charity auction. During the year Andy makes contact with local businesses, pubs and restaurants seeking things that can be sold off at auction. This is both a great money generator and a method whereby we can introduce Feeding Dreams to many people all at the same time.

 

A simple and ever popular way of fund raising which most pubs are only to happy to stage especially on a midweek night when there is not so much regular business. Now that Covid restrictions are being lifted and normal socialising starts to resume, we expect that we will hold monthly quizzes at various locations across Bristol.

FOOTBALL WORLD CUP AND EURO COMPETIONS

We have run a few football competitions to coincide with major football events. These follow a set of rules which provide interest in each game played, there is prize money for the entrants and a percentage to Feeding Dreams.

OUTCIDER LADIES DAY AND THE SKIMMITY HITCHERS

The yearly Outcider festival was back on this year, and the local music group the Skimmity Hitchers always give good support to Feeding Dreams.

It is now a tradition that on the last night of the festival, known as all the men dress as ladies, how this all started nobody seems to know, however in the weeks proceeding wardrobes are raided and dresses and accessories are donated and bought to the Feeding Dreams on site boutique. The effect can be quite startling. Simon, Jason, JP,and Tim (Rammer) Barton are very much involved, and don’t they look lovely. This raised a lot of money in the summer of 21

PIRATES ON THE THAMES

Following the success of the London historic pub day, another trip to London was organised “Pirates on the Thames” where 12 men visited 12 pubs in 12 hours. As before this gained a lot of public interest and we raised a considerable amount of money along the way, it was just another method of mixing fun with fund raising.

Another pub walk was organised in the beautiful city of Oxford.

THE SANTA WALK

A determined effort by a group of people to traverse the 38 bridges of Bristol in 12 hours. The original plan was to arrange this just before Christmas and so the Santa theme was suggested, however due to Covid restrictions this plan was delayed several times. Undaunted, the plan was just postponed until August, and the sight of 30 plus Santas wandering around Bristol was absolutely amazing and we gained a lot of interest both from the general public and the local press. We relayed the progress of the Santas “live” to those who pledged money in sponsorships. A transcript of the various points of interest was sent out as we crossed each bridge. This was our most successful fund raising event ever, we were quite stunned at the way in which people from Bristol and beyond took this event to their hearts, we collected over 13,000 pounds and the money still comes in !
